Cans Across AmericaAs a part of the 2008-2009 Resident Dining Promotion series, Campus Dining will be embarking on a mission to set the Guinness World Record™ for the Largest Food Drive by a Non-Charitable Organization in a 24 Hour Period (Multiple Locations) with the Cans Across America event. In order to achieve a Guinness World Record™, our goal is to surpass 180,000 kg (396,832. lbs., 1 oz.) of food donations…a lofty goal to be sure, but one that can be achieved if we all pitch in together.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to help set this world record in a promotion that combines a nationwide STOP Hunger initiative with a truly rewarding and fulfilling experience that everyone on campus can feel good about. Even the surrounding communities may participate in the Guinness World Record™ attempt as well, so be sure to get your friends and family involved as well!
Cans Across America will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2008! Don’t miss out on your chance to give back to those in your community while setting a Guinness World Record™!

Who doesn’t love an ice cream cone? This unique event takes these classic dessert treats to a whole new level by adding a community outreach element. That’s right, ice cream cones for the good of the community! How can you beat that? Of course, the operative word here is “cones,” so look out on your campus for some unique variations on this exciting theme!

In conjunction with Cans Across America, campuses around the country will be challenging students to do all sorts of cool things with actual cans of food! It might be challenges to build huge can structures or competitions between residence halls for gigantic donations or who knows what else! The sky’s the limit, and if your campus is featuring the “Can Do” Builders Challenge, it’s sure to be a most enjoyable and “constructive” time!
